PAWNEE, Ind. — The Department of Public Health has lifted the precautionary drinking water advisory issued June 24, following confirmation that municipal fluoride levels have returned to the standard range.
The advisory was issued after a dosing calibration error at the treatment plant, the same category of error that occurred in 2011, 2016, and 2022. A new automated monitoring system has been installed, and the department states with confidence that this specific error cannot recur, noting that it has said this before but this time means it structurally.
Health Director Dr. Harris thanked residents for their patience. 'Pawnee's water is safe, and has been safe throughout the majority of recent years,' he said.
